I ♥ Your Style: Bowties

Would you wear a bowtie? I’m not sure if I would. I am definitely a girl who loves a bow, but I think I am more of a bow-in-my-hair type of girl. I LOVE a black git was more of the soft pussycat-bow-on-a-blouse look. Never say never, but so far the urge to wear an actual bow tie hasn’t come to me.

I continue to obsess over the pictures of Paul and Linda McCartney and their family living on a farm in Scotland in the 70’s. How could I not? Snapshot: Jean Shrimpton in Dr Scholl’s

While I’m sitting here in fur-lined boots, clutching hot tea to keep my hands warm, I’m fantasizing about when the weather will be warm enough again to get some Dr. Scholl’s and wear them like Jean Shrimpton (below). Gaia Repossi’s classic minimalist style is a personal favorite of mine. It might be the fact that she owns all the Celine pieces I covet, or that she knows how to wear it in a way that is down to earth, yet just fashion-forward enough. There is also her timeless and natural feline-like beauty and the contrasting tomboy-like way she puts herself together. And then there is the jewelry she designs for her family’s jewelry company Repossi, which has become the fashion world’s favorite. I would buy every piece of her Berbere collection if I could. Keep on eye on her – she’s going to be around for a while.

While we’re on the subject of Stella McCartney, I was in the Taschen store in Paris the other day and discovered her mother Linda McCartney’s book called “Life in Photographs.” I was SO inspired by them, especially by the ones of her family in the countryside, for obvious reasons. They are natural but stylish, in the most unpretentious way. And they transcend celebrity – they would be intriguing even if they were of a family of people we didn’t know. I’m going to attempt to recreate the family portrait with animals for our own family Christmas card. Do you think we can get all our animals to hold still for long enough? Or maybe its fine if they all wonder around us. That’s what I loved about Linda’s photos – she caught a natural moment. They are not posed, but they are perfectly composed.
